Catherine Wolter Wilderness Area
Recently opened to the public, this 2,189-acre preserve allows visitors to witness the Wisconsin Northwoods in its fullest glory. Its fifteen lakes boast completely undeveloped shorelines and thriving native fish populations. Its trails, perfect for hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing, wind through an unspoiled wilderness that connects the Ottawa National Forest and the Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest. This area's abundance of birds and animals provides visitors with some of the best nature-watching opportunities in the entire state.
North Lakeland Discovery Center
Promoting the preservation, enhancement, and exploration of local resources, the North Lakeland Discovery Center provides members and guests with a host of enjoyable, thought-provoking programs and events, all designed to increase awareness of and appreciation for the Wisconsin Northwoods.
